IT ALL STARTED WITH AN IDEA.
In 2008, GBC founder Bruce Davis spent too much time in a Gananoque bar, listening to tourists ask for a "local" beer. And there wasn't one. So he did something about it.
In 2011, the company was incorporated and started by working with Niagara's Best Brewery in Niagara Falls to develop and sell beer. We started with Naughty Otter Lager, our safe patio beer, and the riskier Train Wreck Strong Ale (a very hoppy IPA) and then expanded our repertoire by developing our terroir series—beers that use local organic ingredients: Shiver Eisbock, Red Fife Heritage Wheat Ale, Valour Rye Beer and Remarkable Session Ale.
In 2013, new partners joined the company. GBC is now owned by Dr. Scott Peterson, Red Line Asset Management, Bruce Davis and Lynn Matthews, an investor from Toronto. The company's Board of Directors are Scott Peterson, Chairman, Bruce Davis, President, Chris Wooding, Secretary/Treasurer, Ryan Peterson, Director, and Mike Dabros, Director.
